Noah’s Crown Town 5K 2018 Recap
$1,000,000!!! That’s what all of YOU helped us make possible! At Noah’s Crown Town 5K 2018, we announced our new pledge of $1 million to Children’s Mercy Hospital for targeted pediatric cancer research. That’s a TON of hope for kids fighting cancer, all made possible by the incredible and generous people who have helped support Noah’s mission. There is no doubt that Noah is smiling even bigger after seeing all of this!!
It was during all of the initial pre-race excitement that Noah’s parents Scott and Deb Wilson announced that Noah’s Bandage Project had made the announcement. This pledge has established the Noah Wilson’s Fund for Pediatric Sarcoma Research (Noah’s Fund) at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Noah’s Fund will allow Children’s Mercy to carry out novel and high impact projects which accelerate the development of diagnostic and/or therapeutic approaches for children with pediatric sarcomas.
“Our family is excited about the ongoing partnership with Children’s Mercy Hospital through Noah’s Bandage Project. Today’s announcement is the next step in carrying on what our son started and bringing hope to kids fighting cancer,” said Scott. “Dr. Curran and his team of scientists are the best in the industry and we are so thankful to the community for their continued support and generous donations, which will allow us to fund targeted pediatric cancer research right here in Kansas City.”
After the big announcement, the race was off to an energetic start as Eric Stonestreet blew an air horn and gave the loud “GO!” Racers of all sizes and ages ran and walked the course. From young children, to crown town warriors, to Noah’s great-grandma getting pushed in a wheelchair, the course was full of people passionate about ending childhood cancer.
Once racers had finished the course, the Wilsons honored and recognized each of the crown town warriors by presenting them a certificate and goodie bag as they all proudly crossed the main stage. Once they had their well-deserved moment in the spotlight, they were invited into a private meet and greet with the special guests who were present that morning.
The family friendly event also included live paintings by Mike Debus, face painting, fun hairstyling, a reptile zoo, an NBP racecar and other cool activities to do and organizations to become familiar with. And not to mention the incredible weather and sunny skies!
Thank you to all who came out to this year’s 5K. We look forward to seeing everyone as we do this again next year! Race photo’s and results can be found here
